I started out playing the piano as a young child and attended piano master classes at the state university at age 8. I started vocal coaching at age 11 in classical opera. I received a music scholarship at 18, and studied piano, piano composition, piano pedagogy, and voice. My greatest interest was on the construction of the instrument itself, and my passion is first, the Steinway and second, the Bosendorfer.
However, I also loved science as a little girl. My parents gave me my first microscope at age 10. My brother was my nearest sample victim, so I owe him much gratitude for putting up with my swabs and sharp utensils. ;)
Eventually, I decided to go into biochemistry and recently finished my thesis involving a DNA fragment currently thought to affect the onset of Parkinson's disease, and, potentially co-relationally, in Alzheimer's.
I still keep my music as a hobby, and have composed scores for a ballet company and for events such as weddings when people want specialized, individualized music. I still do my own music calligraphy, and haven't yet sat down at a computer console to assist me. Best thing I've found is still a piano, staph paper, and pencil.
I almost married, twice. The first was a lay preacher, (who passed away), and the second was a family practice physician who didn't want to wait for me while I went off to work with Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity. Needless to say...I chose Mother Teresa. :-)
I love the outdoors, reading, weight lifting, and hanging out with people. I love life, and enjoy laughing. Everyone I meet I usually like, so feel free to email me anytime about anything.
Oops: I just realized I spelled "staff" as "staph" LOL oops ah I'll just leave it.
